Polar Science at a Human Scale

This project brings together an interdisciplinary team of Polar researchers from the University of Washington with the Kivalina Volunteer Search and Rescue and the City of Kivalina to co-produce knowledge in support of strategic planning, climate adaptation, and food sovereignty. This work includes The Kivalina Sea Ice Project

Reproductive Health Equity in Northwest Alaska

In partnership with Maniilaq Social Medicine this project seeks to understand the social, medical, and geographic contexts framing Alaska Native women’s reproductive experiences and outcomes in Northwest Alaska. Based on this inquiry, our team will develop potential approaches toward supporting reproductive health equity in the region.
